Slate - Marble Modern Bedside Table Lamp

The marble is cold to the hand and the column has real density. You do not put it down carelessly.

Opal disc on top of a stone column, and the join is dead flush. No lip, no gap, no glue line anywhere I can find it.

Polished stone rewards a little attention. Mine has sat on the side table since April and the surface still catches the light the way it did the first weekend. The care note is two lines and easy to follow. I like an object that asks something small of you and gives it back.

Four and a half pounds on an eight inch column gives it a very low centre of gravity. The polish runs right to the bottom edge with no dull ring where it meets the table.

Each column is cut from different stone and mine has a pale grey vein running slightly off centre, which I would have chosen deliberately had I been given the option. It has sat on the hall table since April and looks better against the oak than I had any right to expect.

It throws a low warm pool rather than lighting the whole room, which is exactly what I wanted beside a chair in the evening. Three months on the side table and the opal disc still reads clean and even.

Heavy, quiet, well cut. Exactly what I wanted.
