Stood upright on the desk next to the keyboard, chain folded round the back. Amber at about a third and I do not need the desk lamp at all after dark.

Reviews from real rooms
Wall plate went up on the shelf above the console. It is the only thing on that wall and it does not need company.
My fifteen-year-old picks a different colour every night and has not got bored of it in two months, which is a record for anything in that room.
It sits in the shelf gap between the graphic novels, which is exactly where a nine-inch block of cubes belongs.
The panels are properly diffused, so you get squares of colour rather than a row of visible LEDs. That is the whole difference between this and the cheap ones.
Matte black, no gloss, no fingerprints. Switched off it reads as an object rather than a gadget.
The remote is a thin plastic card that lives on the arm of the chair, and after a week I knew the colours by their position without looking down at it. I run a deep amber most evenings and something colder when I am working late, and the change is instant. Sixteen is more than I expected to use, and I have happily settled on about four of them.
blocky is the point and they did not chicken out anywhere. even the chain links are square. no curve on the whole thing
The wall plate is a small square of metal, and once it was up the lamp hooked straight on and sat flat against the plaster with no wobble to it. It throws a soft block of amber down the wall above the stairs, which is exactly what I bought it for. My son has now claimed it for his room, and rather than argue the point I am buying a second one for the landing.
Hangs on the plate or stands on the shelf. I have moved it four times and it has been right in all four places.
Everyone who sits at that desk asks about it. Nobody guesses it is a lamp first.
Just over a pound of moulded ABS with clean seams and no flash on the edges. It feels like a tool rather than a toy.
