Console by the front door. It is the first thing anyone looks at on the way in, and the first thing I switch on at night.

Side table by the armchair. It went up in September and I have not found a reason to take it down.
On the wide shelf, and it has earned the whole thing. The brim throws colour down the wall on both sides.
Bedroom dresser. The blue panes are the ones you notice at night and I would not have guessed that from the listing photo.
Fifteen inches tall puts the brim just below eye level in a chair. The light reaches you through the glass instead of past it, which is the point of a shade this shape.
Six and a half pounds and the base is the weight of it. You cannot knock this over with a sleeve, which given the brim is a real consideration.
Pull chain rather than a switch buried in the cord. Small decision. Correct one.
Sixteen inches across the brim is wider than I had pictured, and the dresser turned out to be the right home for it. It has room around it there and the light comes down over the whole top in a warm circle. Up close the leaves are red and amber and olive, and they soften once the bulb is on. I walk past it every evening and look at it every time.
switched off it looks like a hat someone left on the table. thats the whole appeal. genuinely funny object
The leading is dark and even and there is no gap anywhere along the brim where it curves. That curve is the hard part and they did not cheat it.
Bought it for October and it has been out since. It suits the room in February just as well, so it is staying where it is.
It came packed with the shade seated in a moulded foam ring and not a single pane had shifted, which for leaded glass this shape is more than I expected. The autumn colours are deeper in person than on screen, closer to rust than orange, and the finish on the column has held up to being moved between three rooms.
